Harold Jonas, PhD, LMHC, CAP is a recognized expert in the behavioral health industry, specializing in addictions. His own journey to find recovery from drug addiction led him to become a leading entrepreneur in the recovery community. After developing a network of sober living residences, he conceptualized and developed SOBER.COM, the first comprehensive internet directory for the addiction community and profession. Dr. Jonas will also reflect on his journey through grief following the loss of his son.
Kira Melamed-Vainberg grew up in Zhitomir in Ukraine. Following high school, she made Aliyah and worked to integrate into the modern State of Israel. Following her marriage and the birth of her son, Kira and her husband Michael decided to move to the United States, and just prior to departing, she received news she had breast cancer. Kira will share how she faced the struggles of emigration and fighting the scourge of cancer.
Captain Jeff Schneider served in the U.S. Army for 10 years, deploying to Kuwait and Bosnia. Following his discharge in 2000, Capt. Schneider was recalled to active duty in 2004 and was given command of the 227th transportation company with the 101st airborne division. The roaddogs of the 227th completed more convoy miles and missions than any other unit in Iraq during their time there, and despite averaging contact with enemy forces every third day, all 154 soldiers in the company returned home to their families. Awarded the Bronze Star, Capt. Schneider will share his experience of resilience and renewal from serving in combat and war.
