The Stephen Dubov z”l Memorial Concert series has been a highly anticipated annual tradition since his passing in 2006, and rotates year to year between Temple Beth El and Congregation B’nai Israel in Boca Raton, where his family continue to have close ties. Cantor Dubov had arrived at Temple Beth El of Boca Raton in 2006 with great expectations, having been chosen for his ability to hit every note and to inspire. But just over a month after his arrival, he died unexpectedly in Detroit while returning to his family to help them prepare for their move from Michigan to south Florida to join him. Born in Miami Beach, he earned a Bachelor’s degree in music education from the University of Miami and he received his cantorial investiture and Master’s degree from the Hebrew Union College. In addition to becoming a cantor, the former movie, television and stage actor had a diverse and distinguished career which included a regular role in the daytime drama, Guiding Light, Broadway performances and appearances in more than one hundred films. Dubov had also performed with the Miami and Palm Beach operas and the Los Angeles Philharmonic.
