Through photos and personal reflection\, this presentation follows his path from encountering denial to walking the death camps themselves\, retracing the final steps of Sophia and Hermi van Hasselt\, his daughter’s Holocaust “twins.” \nThis class explores how misinformation takes hold\, how truth confronts us\, and why remembering remains essential. \nSession 2 – April 14\nWhispers from Terezin\, the Children and the Words they Left Behind \nExplore the haunting poetry of the film Through Children’s Eyes in this text-based class that uncovers the deeper meanings woven into the words of the children of Terezin. For the past 17 years David has served in the cantorial office at Temple Adat Elohim in Thousand Oaks\, CA.  He has built a unique and successful music program spanning many generations. He currently serves as president of the Guild of Temple Musicians.

DESCRIPTION:David Harris\, a lifelong Jewish activist\, will be joining us to discuss two important topics: the ongoing war between the US\, Israel\, and Iran and the rise of antisemitism across the world. \nDavid has spent an illustrious career travelling the world on behalf of the Jewish people. he led the American Jewish Committee (AJC) which has been described by the New York Times as the “dean of American Jewish organizations” from 1990 – 2022. He was referred to by the late Israeli President Shimon Peres as the “foreign minister of the Jewish people.” Harris has been honored more than 20 times by foreign governments for his international work\, making him the most decorated American Jewish organizational leader in U.S. history. \nHis unique experience and lifetime of service to the Jewish people offer him unique insights into the complex global relationships at play as the US and Israel are at war with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
