SUMMARY:Lunch & Learn: Poetry of Israel\, Post-October 7th with Rachel Korazim
DESCRIPTION:Taught by Rachel Korazim \nThe calamity of October 7 and the war that followed had left Israel and the Jewish world in shock and despair. The unimaginable became our reality. As more details of the horror unfold\, we are facing the painful daily losses in battle and the plight of the hostages and their families. Not less troubling\, are the terrible losses and devastation in Gaza. We find ourselves less and less able to talk about it. The expression most commonly used is אין מילים ein milim – No Words. \nYet\, there are those who struggle and find words to express pain and anger\, despair and abandonment. The poems are often raw and painful\, while at the same time full of love and even hope. They reflect a variety of Israeli voices and echo the impact of daily events. Our four sessions will each highlight one of the many aspects of this amazing body of literature. \n\nSession 1: Shock and Bewilderment\nSession 2: As Days Go By\nSession 3: Poems of October 7\nSession 4: In Every Generation\n\nJoin us in person at the Schaefer Family Campus or online. \nZoom Link Livestream YouTube \n  \nRachel Korazim is a Jewish education consultant in curriculum development for Israel and Holocaust education. Rachel opens for her audiences a window to Israeli society through literature; through stories\, poems and songs of the best of Israel’s writers\, she invites listeners to engage with Israel in an innovative way. She Rachel teaches at Israel’s well known learning centers such as Pardes and the Shalom Hartman Institutes as well as numerous world Jewish communities.

SUMMARY:Blind Spot Film Screening
DESCRIPTION:A must-see film about the threat to Jewish life on campus\, told through the voices and experiences of students. \nBlind Spot is the first film to document both the antisemitism that existed on American campuses before October 7 and how it led to the explosion of virulent and often violent campus antisemitism after October 7. In their own words\, it tells the story from the perspectives of more than two dozen students at more than a dozen schools who’ve experienced and fought against this hatred. \nFollowing the movie\, there will be a panel discussion with our clergy and student activist from UPenn Maya Harpaz and her mother Pamela. \n$10 per person \nRegister\n

SUMMARY:Screams Before Silence - Film Screening
DESCRIPTION:Screams Before Silence\, presents testimony from October 7th survivors\, first responders\, eyewitnesses\, released hostages\, forensic experts and advocates. Despite the indisputable evidence of sexual violence committed by Hamas\, these atrocities have received little scrutiny from human rights groups and international organizations. The documentary\, presenter-led by Sheryl Sandberg\, former COO of Meta and founder of LeanIn.org\, exposes both the brutality and the silence around this tragedy. \nJoin us for a screening of this powerful film\, followed by guided conversation and reflection. \nRegister
