Boca Raton, FL (May 17, 2022)  Temple Beth El of Boca Raton continues to proudly support Boca Helps Ukraine  as one of their social action initiatives, and this weekend, volunteers will be on hand to load trucks with the tens of thousands of pounds of donated humanitarian aid items generously donated by our community for shipping to Ukraine.

Those interested in signing up for a shift to volunteer from the Boca Helps Ukraine warehouse site at Park Place Shopping Mall located at 5560 N. Military Trail, Bay 322 (formerly Salon Bardot), Boca Raton, FL 33496 may register and choose from time slots beginning Friday, May 20  through Sunday, May 22 from noon to 7:00 pm each day.

The trucks with be filled with the essential non-perishables, personal hygiene products and baby supplies where they will head to the port to be loaded on to a container ship to be sent for distribution

Temple Beth El member, Mariya Kemper-Reiss, who was born in Kiev, Ukraine, has been spearheading the local humanitarian effort to collect these donations and raise funds to ease the suffering of Ukrainians displaced by war.

To distribute supplies, she has partnered with her longtime friend, Igor Smelyansky, CEO-Director General at the Ukrainian National Postal Service (Ukrposhta) and interview opportunities during this time frame may be scheduled with him through contacting Mariya Kemper-Reiss at 917-378-7515.

“Many of us here are in daily contact with our friends and family in Ukraine,” Kemper-Reiss explains. “
“It’s so heartbreaking. So many people have been bombed out of their homes. Many are starving and getting any kind of food has become extremely difficult.”

Financial support is also greatly appreciated, and is being collected through Temple Beth El of Boca Raton’s Disaster Relief Fund online or via checks sent to the temple. Please note that your donation is for Boca Helps Ukraine.

Other organizations in the community are also working to help Ukraine:

  • The Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County in solidarity with the Jewish Federations of North America is collecting funds to be distributed to the Joint Distribution Committee, the Jewish Agency and World ORT. Contribute at org/give/ukrainenow
