Cantor Lori Brock has been a member of Temple Beth El’s congregation since 1991 and joined the clergy team in 1997, first as our cantorial soloist and then as our cantor. She is passionate about vibrant and spiritual Jewish music and has worked to transform Temple Beth El’s music program and worship.
Cantor Brock works with our Religious Activities Committee to ensure that our membership is a part of the inspiration, planning and evaluation of all religious experiences at Temple Beth El. She is working to expand our worship to both of our campuses with our new Strategic Planning Task Force for Worship so that all members can find many different spiritual experiences to feed their souls.
She is the force behind much of the innovative Shabbat experiences and extraordinary cultural programs including creating and producing our videos for the holidays. Cantor Brock is especially excited about Beth El’s cultural group, Friends of Music and the Arts which, thanks to many generous members, has created a Jewish cultural center at our temple.
In addition to her musical influence at Temple Beth El, Cantor is passionate about providing pastoral care for our congregation. She oversees Bikkur Cholim, our group of caring congregants who work with our clergy to provide constant communication to our members in need of care and healing.
Cantor Brock is a graduate of the Cantorial Certification Program at the Debbie Friedman School of Sacred Music at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion where she earned the title of Cantor in 2016. She is a member of the American Conference of Cantors and has led services at their national convention. Cantor Brock has also presented on Visual Tefilah at the Union for Reform Judaism’s biennial convention, and has served on the faculty of URJ Kutz Teen Leadership Camp and URJ Camp Coleman.
Prior to her work at Temple Beth El, Cantor Brock enjoyed a successful career in theatre, film and commercials and is a member of Actors Equity and the Screen Actors Guild. She is married to her husband George and is the proud mother of Lizzie and Adam and their singing cockapoos, Harry and Sally.
