    Rabbi Sergio Bergman is one of the most dynamic and fascinating Jewish leaders in the world.  Formerly Argentina’s Minister of the Environment, Rabbi Bergman leads the World Union for Progressive Judaism, the international organization supporting Reform and Progressive congregations in more than 50 countries.

    We will explore the extraordinary stories of how progressive Jewish communities in Ukraine are coping with the horrors of the war with Russia, and how Israel’s new hard-right government will impact progressive Jews and Judaism – in Israel, in America, and around the world.

    About Rabbi Sergio Bergman

    Rabbi Sergio Bergman serves as President of the World Union for Progressive Judaism (WUPJ), representing two million Jews affiliated with 1,200 communities in more than 50 countries.  The World Union supports the work and inspires the growth of Reform and progressive Jewish communities around the world.

    Rabbi Bergman was an admired political leader in his native Argentina.  Between 2015 and 2019 as Argentina’s Minister of the Environment he was responsible for the creation of six new National Parks and the first Marine Protected Areas in Argentina.  In 2019, Apolitical named him as one of the hundred most prominent people worldwide in the fight against climate change.

    He is the author of seven books, including

    • The Civic Manifesto
    • Argentina Citizen with Biblical Texts, (with a foreword by Pope Francis)
    • Kabbalah, a GPS to the soul.
