Joel Ivers
VP of Development

Joel Ivers and his wife Susan have been members of Temple Beth El since 2016, after moving to Boca Raton from Cincinnati, OH.  Joel was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA and graduated with a B.S. in chemistry from the University of Redlands in Redlands, CA.  He obtained a masters degree in genetics and molecular biology from Indiana University, Bloomington, IN.

Joel’s first career was teaching HS chemistry, followed by a position with Johnson and Johnson which led to over 30 years experience in strategic marketing, licensing, business development, operations, and senior management in both large corporations and start-ups.  As an experienced business executive, Joel was CEO of several companies in the biomedical and IT markets.  In concluding his professional career, he managed a seed-stage venture capital fund.

Since retiring in 2014, Joel has been a volunteer mentor for start-companies in South Florida.  He is currently an Instructor and also Board Chair for the Institute for Learning in Retirement (ILIR) in Boca Raton.  Joel is currently also in his second year as President of his condo association, and is a volunteer at TBE on both the Stewardship and Racial Equity Task Forces.

Joel and Susan are the parents of three children.  Their son Scott and daughter Allison live in Los Angeles, while daughter Sarah and her husband, Jason Rathaus, reside in Boca Raton with their sons, Jack and Leo.
