“Nathan-ism” Documentary Film Discussion with Nancy Spielberg and Elan Golod

Thursday, April 20, 2023 | 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Producer Nancy Spielberg grew up immersed in filmmaking, working on her brother Steven’s early films as cast and crew. In recent years she has turned her energy and talents to producing documentary films. One of her priorities is to help preserve Jewish stories and make them educational tools for the benefit of younger generations.

Seven years ago, Rabbi Jessica Spitalnic Mates developed a friendship with Nathan Hilu, by then in his 90s. At the age of 19, as a young American soldier, Nathan was sent guard the Nazis at the Nuremberg trials and spent the rest of his life doing only two things – working in a book store and drawing again and again and again the most evil men in the world, the Nuremberg defendants.

At this event, Rabbi Mates in conversation with producers Nancy Spielberg and Elan Golod, will show excerpts from the documentary “Nathan-ism” and explore Nancy’s founding of Jewish Story Partners with her famous brother, and why “Nathan-ism” is such an important film to help us never forget the Holocaust.
