Join us for Purim this year in person at the Schaefer Family Campus or online on Virtual Beth El! For extra fun, the Purim Spiel will feature your favorite 80’s music, and will star our clergy and staff as Queen Esther, King Achashverosh, Haman, Mordechai and Vashti. They will journey back to the 1980’s to tell the Purim story with song parodies like Vashti singing “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun!” and Mordechai singing “Never Gonna Give You Up!”
Complete the festivities with a yummy hamentaschen oneg outdoors in our beautiful courtyard under the twinkle lights.
On Purim we read the the Megillah, which tells the story of the salvation of the Jews of the Persian Empire. It is customary to dress up in costume, and use noisemakers called “groggers” to drown out Haman’s name when it is read from the Megillah, as he is the evil one who led the persecution of the Jews during that time. Hilarious photos of our clergy and staff in costumes of the times will help bring the story to life.
An event every week that begins at 9:30 am on Saturday, repeating until Saturday, June 29, 2024
