6:00 pm Shabbat Services
Followed by Optional Dinner and Learning with Rabbi Michael Paley

Rabbi Michael Paley, our Wisdom & Wonder speaker, will participate in our Shabbat Evening Service.

In 1967, Prof. Simon Rawidowicz’s article, “Israel: The Ever Dying People” was published 10 years after his death. The 1950’s had been a time of Jewish optimism but around the Six Day War fear had returned to the Jewish community. The essay focused on how every generation of Jews feels they are the last ones. Antisemitism, pogroms, expulsions and assimilation were always about to overcome us. In our times, we are no different. So how did we not only survive but thrive? Together we will explore the challenges of the post Holocaust, post-Communist Hungarian Jewish community as a case study of Jewish innovation and resilience.
