Temple Beth El Solidarity Mission to Israel

Join Rabbi Dan Levin on a Temple Beth El Solidarity Mission to Israel organized by J2 Adventures. Witness the incredible unity and strength of our Israeli brothers and sisters as we listen to their stories and provide our love and support. We will meet with Israelis displaced from their homes, families of the hostages, and those doing the work of recovery. We will spend time volunteering helping with important projects, including:

  • Brothers and Sisters in Arms, the largest civilian relief center which provides services for displaced people, soldiers, and affected families.
  • Yozma Congegration in Modiin, Temple Beth El’s sister congregation.
  • Beit Shemesh area, helping to harvest fields in order to provide fresh produce for the country.

  • Cost per person in a double room: $2,950 at 10 participants – (This will lower to $2,550 at 15 participants)
  • Cost per person in a single room: $3,590 at 10 participants – (This will lower to $3,190 at 15 participants)
  • Registration fee per person to Temple Beth El: $100

DAY 1: ALL ISRAEL IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE OTHER
Sunday, February 18, 2024

  • Overnight: Flight

DAY 2: MY HEART IS IN THE EAST
Monday, February 19, 2024 –

  • Arrive at Ben-Gurion International Airport.
  • Meet your J² Expert Educator who will accompany you throughout your mission.
  • Understanding the Context: Looking back to October 7th and towards the future with your tour educator.
  • Volunteer time in Modiin – with Yozma.
  • Enter Jerusalem and stop at the Haas Promenade for a traditional “shechechiyanu” blessing of thanksgiving.
  • Check into your hotel.
  • Dinner and Discussion with Professor Reuvan Hazan of the Political Science Department at Hebrew University for an update on the Israel-Hamas War and its impacts on Israeli life and society.
  • Group welcome dinner.

DAY 3: LENDING A HAND
Tuesday, February 20, 2024

  • Meet for a talk with MK Rabbi Gilad Kariv.
  • Due to a lack of workers, Israelis now volunteer to work in agriculture. We will volunteer and help harvest fields in the Beit Shemesh area in order to provide fresh produce for the country.
  • Spend time with members of ZAKA and learn more about their search-and-rescue efforts.
  • Unpacking and Processing: A time to reflect and share about the day.
  • Dinner on your own.

DAY 4: BEARING WITNESS
Wednesday, February 21, 2024

  • Drive south to the Gaza Envelope.
  • Meet with Chen Kotler – a resident of Kibbutz Kfar Aza. Tour the remains of the kibbutz and learn from Chen about the events of October 7th and their aftermath.
  • Visit the site of the Nova Festival massacre near Kibbutz Re’im.
  • Continue to Sderot, located on Israel’s border with Gaza and see reality on the ground.
  • Drive back to Jerusalem.
  • Meet with Orly Erez from IRAC (Religious Action Center) to learn about social justice initiatives in Israel.
  • Unpacking and Processing: A time to reflect and share about the day.
  • Dinner on your own.

DAY 5: KOL YISRAEL AREVIM
Thursday, February 22, 2024

  • Check out of the hotel.
  • Drive to Tel Aviv.
  • Volunteer at Israel’s largest civilian relief center at the Tel Aviv Expo. The relief center is organized and run by volunteers from “Brothers and Sisters in Arms” – one of the leading organizations of reserve soldiers and offices who headed the 2023 protest movement.
  • Visit a hospital or Rehabilitation Center to learn about their work during the current emergency. Speak with staff about how the war has affected the hospital.
  • Meet the team behind Israeli podcast Rays of Light: a podcast that captures the stories of women who survived the attacks of October 7th.
  • Hostages Square has become a national center for the struggle of the return of the hostages. Meet with activists and families in the square and lend your voice to this crucial struggle. End the visit with a special prayer.
  • Farewell dinner and reflection. What have we experienced this week? What are we taking home?
  • Transfer to the airport for your flight back to the US.
