In partnership with DISC of Pearl City, an interracial social change organization, the Jewish Community Relations Council of South Palm Beach County, and the churches in Pearl City, Temple Beth El is welcoming all to participate in Souls to the Polls as the Black and Jewish communities stand shoulder to shoulder to exercise our fundamental right to vote.
Our tradition teaches that “A leader should not be appointed until the community is consulted” (Talmud Brachot 55a). Expressing our desires through voting is the most fundamental American right, and is especially important for minority groups.
On Sunday, October 27 at 1:30pm we will gather in Pearl City at Ebenezer Baptist Church for an Early Voting Rally at 1:30 pm. We will hear from Rabbi Greg Weisman, the Reverend Ronald L. Brown and community leaders including the Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections Wendy Sartory Link. At 2:00 pm, as a group, we will walk to an Early Voting Site and stand together in fellowship and community to take our turn to cast our ballot.
In addition to registering to participate, we are looking for volunteers willing to drive folks between the nearby polling site and Pearl City.
